As much as we all wanted to hold an in person commencement ceremony, we have been given final guidance from the San Diego County Public Health Office that we will not be able to hold an in person ceremony on July 23rd. Obviously we are disappointed by this news, however, we do want to honor our graduates one final time and therefore, we wanted to provide graduates and their families more details specifically regarding our July 23rd Drive Through Commencement Ceremony. Guidelines: Thursday, July 23 In order to reduce traffic congestion and unnecessary wait time, please come to the site in a vehicle on your assigned time. 10-11am Last Names A - Cal 11am-12pm Last Names Cap - Ge 12-1pm Last Names Gh - Ki 1-2pm Last Names Kl - Mi 2-3pm Last Names Mo - P 3-4pm Last Names Q - S 4-5pm Last Names T - Z Only families from the same household should travel together. One vehicle per family (If you share time between two different households, two vehicles be permitted) With the exception of the graduate, all vehicle occupants must remain in the vehicle at all times. Walk-Up Details: When it is the graduate's turn to exit the vehicle, each graduate will exit the vehicle with a face covering on. As they approach the decorated stage CHS staff will read their name and Senior Spotlight over the microphone, a professional photograph will be taken, and we will play graduation music to make the moment special. Once on the stage, graduates will pose for another professional photo with their diploma cover. Once the graduate finishes taking their pictures they will exit the stage, put their mask back on, walk to the next station where they will receive their diploma and return their gown (if they borrowed a gown), re-enter their vehicle, and exit the parking lot. To help in our planning please complete the survey that was sent to 12th grade students and families via email, which will provide us some important information. We thank you for your time as we plan to honor our graduates. Please complete this form by Sunday, July 19th to indicate your attendance at this event. Families are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and celebrate with their graduates from within their vehicles! Our staff will be present to ensure an honorable, safe, and enjoyable experience for all of our graduates and their families. NOTE: Students not wishing or able to attend the July 23 ceremony will be able to pick up diplomas and return gowns at the CHS office on Friday, July 24 from 9am-12pm. After that date, remaining diplomas will be mailed to graduates.
