Carlsbad Unified families and staff, Last night, our Board of Trustees conducted their regular meeting via teleconference. A link to the recording and supporting documents can be found below. The Board provided direction in several important areas: The Board directed staff to follow the guidelines in the (effective May 10, 2020 and until further notice) for the remaining four weeks of the current school year. The Board supported staff’s recommendation to continue with Remote Online Learning through June 11, 2020. All district facilities are now considered closed for cleaning, maintenance, and preparation for the new school year. . The Board supported staff’s recommendation to move the date of high school graduation to July 23, in the hopes that the San Diego County public health order will allow some version of an in-person graduation on that date. . The Board supported staff’s recommendation to develop a flexible continuum of learning models for the fall, dependent on local and state public health orders. This flexible continuum might include multiple options and choices for families such as a traditional model of in-class instruction (if public health orders allow); a physically distanced and/or blended model of some in-class instruction and some online instruction; and a virtual model with learning in a 100% online format. In the coming weeks we will share more information about this with you, and will provide formal opportunities for public input and feedback. Stay tuned for more information.
