The purpose of the Student-Superintendent Advisory Council (SSAC) is to support Carlsbad Unified School District's goal to promote a high-quality learning environment. The SSAC will advise the Superintendent on educational topics and student-related issues. We will also discuss the positive activities, events, and educational programs happening in our high schools. What is the level of Commitment from Members? The SSAC will meet four or five times throughout the year, either before or after school and possibly on early release days. The first meeting of the 2021-22 school year will be via Google Meet. For any in-person meetings this year, transportation to/from the meeting locations will be arranged by you. The goal is for representatives to come from different high schools, grade levels, and geographic areas of the district. There is limited space on the Student-Superintendent Advisory Council. Selection will be determined based on your completed application. Please complete this application by September 15, 2021. If you have any questions, contact CUSD Student Services Specialist Rosemary Eshelman at . Please note - at the end of the application, you'll need to upload a one-minute video describing why you want to be part of the SSAC. Please let Mrs. Eshelman know if you have any problems uploading your video. Can you please post this out to students and on your websites the deadline is September 15, 2021? If you know of a student please encourage them to apply Thanks, Rosemary

As was communicated by the district office in May, Carlsbad High School will be moving to an . This move is being made in accordance with CaliforniaSB 328, which was signed into law in 2019. Here are a few key changes to our traditional schedule: The regular school start time will be 8:30am and the end time will be 3:30pm. Here is the . The Advisory period that was introduced during the 2020-21 school year will be retained and integrated into the Monday Early Release schedule. The Advisory period allows for a dedicated time to integrate social-emotional learning and academic planning into the schedule. There will be a limited number of classes offered as a “0” period from 7:25-8:25 daily. Schedules for after school activities will be adjusted accordingly, with more information to come from teachers/coaches once schedules are available. There will undoubtedly be a period of adjustment as we transition to the new schedule, but we hope that this notice allows students and families adequate time to prepare for the upcoming school year.

The Carlsbad Unified Council of PTAs was busier than ever during the 2020-2021 school year. In the face of unprecedented obstacles to recruiting and retaining members, our PTAs managed to achieve remarkable successes in strengthening their school communities. Although their efforts were a fraction of what is typically accomplished in a ‘normal’ year, PTA efforts made a lasting impact to benefit the Carlsbad Unified School District. This year, 1,682 Carlsbad PTA members volunteered 27,154 hours of service, equaling a contribution of nearly $775,000 to benefit Carlsbad schools, staff, students families. In Carlsbad Unified, we are fortunate to have such wonderful support from our parent community. We’re incredibly thankful for the support of our parent volunteers. See the full list of the 2020-21 PTA accomplishments here: . Please also see a slide deck capturing the work of our PTAs over the past year here: .
