Hello Carlsbad Unified School District families, I would like to invite you to participate in a number of community-related events in February and March. First, please bring out your warrior spirit to help children battling life-threatening illnesses, diseases and disorders by participating in the 9th Annual Mitchell Thorp Foundation 5K on Saturday, February 3rd at 8:30 a.m. It will take place at Poinsettia Park in Carlsbad. There will be a family fun festival and great prizes for all ages at the event. We encourage you to show your school spirit by joining your school’s team. You can sign up with your friends and family by going to . Second, please join Kids for Peace and the Great Kindness Challenge for a Community Pep Rally on Tuesday, February 6th at 3:30 pm. The Rally will be held at the Stadium at Carlsbad High School. This will be the culminating activity in this year’s Great Kindness Challenge, which was started here in Carlsbad and has been featured on Good Morning America and many other media outlets. We hope you’ll come out to be part of the fun, and to help remind the world that Kindness Matters. Finally, we hope you’ll participate in two events benefiting the Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF). The 2018 Celebrate Carlsbad Day will take place on Saturday, March 3 at Legoland; discounted tickets can be purchased at , and all proceeds go to support our robotics programs for all 2nd grade students in Carlsbad Unified schools.
