Carlsbad Unified families and staff, Today, Governor Gavin Newsom commented in his daily press conference that all school facilities in the state of California should be closed for the rest of the school year, and all districts should fully commit to distance learning for the remainder of the school year. He did not, however, issue an Executive Order closing all schools for the year. We are waiting on additional guidance from the California Department of Education and the San Diego County Office of Education; please stay tuned for more specific information from us on these and many other issues. In the meantime, from the County Office of Education about the Governor’s press conference earlier today. Many students of all ages may be struggling right now—as are many adults. The San Diego County Office of Education has shared as you help your children deal with the numerous emotions they may be experiencing. Additionally, Live Well San Diego has curated a number of resources on their . I hope you and the members of your family are staying safe and healthy. We will provide additional information as soon as we are able. Sincerely, Dr. Ben Churchill Superintendent
